Project Description
Originally built as a 1920s service station, Gallon Measure is a local landmark known for its distinctive cylindrical “oil can” volume—a rare piece of roadside Americana. Our renovation celebrates that iconic form while bringing new life and functionality to the property.

The project expands the footprint of the existing mechanic shop and introduces a full second story for residential use. A new gable roof and clean, contemporary façade tie the composition together, blending industrial heritage with modern proportion and materiality.
By integrating the original curved structure into the new design, the building maintains its recognizable character while meeting current code, energy, and structural standards. The result is a sensitive reinvention of a familiar neighborhood fixture—preserving history while redefining its use for the next generation.
