Short Summary
A bold façade renovation in Peekskill’s Historic District—designed for transparency, brand expression, and historic harmony. Approved by the city’s preservation board and brought to life in collaboration with the restaurant’s owner.

Project Description
Located in the heart of Peekskill’s Downtown Historic District, this façade renovation transforms a dated and uninspired storefront into a bold, modern expression that celebrates both place and identity. The client’s goal was to bring new life to the building, creating a brighter, more open environment with expanded seating and a stronger connection to the street.
Mandra Workshop designed a new storefront with black aluminum framing and generous glazing to draw natural light deep into the restaurant while visually linking the interior dining space to the city’s lively pedestrian rhythm. Bold trim colors and signage were selected to complement the restaurant’s brand and logo, establishing a cohesive and energetic street presence.
Because the project required review and approval from the Historic Preservation Board—a process often challenging when introducing contemporary elements within a historic context—we worked carefully to balance creativity with respect for the surrounding architecture. While the restaurant’s vibrant interior design was led by the owner, the new façade provides the framework for that experience—an open, welcoming face that bridges history, identity, and modern design.
