Project Description
The Prime Diner Redevelopment transforms one of Peekskill’s most recognizable structures—an original prefabricated diner car- into a renewed landmark that bridges past and present. Working within the tight urban fabric and under historic district oversight, the design preserves the existing diner at street level and integrates it into a new four-story brick addition at the rear.
The expansion accommodates a modern kitchen and support spaces for the restaurant, while upper floors introduce new apartments that activate the downtown core. The project draws from the scale and rhythm of surrounding historic buildings, using traditional masonry detailing and cornice articulation to create a seamless urban fit.
Balancing preservation with progress, this design reaffirms the diner’s role as a community touchstone while re-establishing the site as a vibrant mixed-use cornerstone of downtown Peekskill.
