Short Summary
A complete transformation of a dated single-story home into a mid-century modern two-level residence with bold new rooflines and panoramic views of the surrounding woodland.
Project Description
Originally a modest ranch tucked against a wooded slope, this home sat quietly on its site with limited natural light and an outdated structure. Mandra Workshop re-envisioned the property through a full addition and renovation, introducing a second story, all-new roof geometry, and expanded openings to reconnect the home with its striking natural setting.
The design balances modern architectural form with the rugged terrain — using clean lines, deep overhangs, and natural materials to integrate the home into its hillside landscape. Inside, the restructured layout and vaulted ceilings flood the living spaces with light, turning what was once a closed-off house into an open, contemporary retreat surrounded by forest.
